Graphic and communication design
Online Master’s degree allows to enjoy all the benefits of the «new mobility». All the classes are held online, allowing students to live in any part of the world regardless of the time zone. This will enable students not only to obtain the professional knowledge and competencies, study where it is convenient communicating with teachers from all the campuses of HSE ART AND DESIGN SCHOOL, but also to develop interdisciplinary skills related to working online.
COURSE SUMMARY
This program allows to combine the advantages of a project-based approach to the design education and digital competencies in a distance format, to train qualified professionals who can work both in the office and remotely in Russian or international companies, agencies, projects remotely.
The teaching process is based on the project approach: from the first class each student makes his/her own project, gaining design skills and knowledge of the history and theory of art and design. Student groups include no more than 24 people who study under the guidance of a group curator.
Starting with the creation of graphic compositions and posters, students will proceed to the development of a full-fledged brand identity. During the training students will design a multipage edition of a chosen format (booklet, magazine, book, etc.), create an animated film, perform a visual project in the environment, and at the same time master the basic design technologies (Adobe graphics package, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Timble Navigation SketchUp). As part of the program, students will form a quality portfolio that will help to establish themselves among the industry professionals.
Every year a student prepares at least four projects that he presents at public screenings to the examination board that can include teachers from all the campuses of HSE ART AND DESIGN SCHOOL. All students’ projects are stored in the digital portfolio — a tool that allows one not only to track the professional progress of each student, but also gives an opportunity to a potential employer or customer to find a suitable employee among the students.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
During the interview, the enrollee is given the opportunity to fully demonstrate her/his level of motivation and interest in design education and answer the questions of the examination committee about her/his own preferences in the field of art and design.
Applicants should provide information about their previous professional experience. If you don’t have any previous design projects — no need to worry, you just need to write a motivation letter with a story about yourself, your professional interests and why you choose our program and what educational goals you set for yourself.
The portfolio or the motivation letter is downloaded to the applicant’s personal account and sent electronically to in.design@hse.ru.
International students can apply for graduate programs for the next academic year starting from November 1, 2021 until August 15, 2022.
